Georgia Pharmacy Association Installs New President
Eddie Madden, R.Ph., is installed as 2009-2010 President of the Georgia Pharmacy Association

ATLANTA (July 7, 2009) – Eddie M. Madden, R.Ph., of Hartwell, Georgia, has been installed as the 2009-2010 president of the Georgia Pharmacy Association. Madden is the owner of Madden’s Pharmacy Inc. in Elberton, and has been an innovative leader in pharmacy for many years.
“We are excited to have Eddie serving as our president for the next year,” said Jim Bracewell, GPhA Executive Vice President/CEO. “Eddie is known for his vision for the future of pharmacy and he has a unique ability to inspire and motivate others. He is prepared to lead us forward as we navigate the changes in the future of health care.”

Madden’s pharmacy practice focuses on independent community pharmacy and patient care.  He is a 1971 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy. Eddie has spent his pharmacy career serving the profession and patients by serving as a state senator and as a member and president of the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy. 

Madden’s vision and leadership set him apart from the norm, which is reflected in the numerous awards bestowed upon him by members of his profession and his community. He is a recipient of the NCPA Leadership Award, Smith Drug Company Visionary Award and McKesson Drug Company Leadership Award.

As a member of the Georgia Pharmacy Association, Madden has served in many leadership capacities: GPhA Board of Directors, chairman of GPhA Investment Committee, and member of GPhA Academy of Independent Pharmacy. He has also served on several committees and participated in the GPhA Annual Convention and Pharmacy Legislative Day.  He has also served on the GPhA PharmPAC and GPhA Insurance Trust Board of Directors. He also holds several other professional memberships, including a member of the American Pharmacists Association and National Community Pharmacists Association.

Madden is active in the Hartwell community, having served as president of the Elbert County Chamber of Commerce, president of the Elberton Kiwanis Club, and as trustee of Leadership Georgia.

Madden and his wife, Linda, live in Hartwell. They have three adult children and one grandchild. The couple is active in the First Baptist Church of Hartwell.
