THE SAROYAN LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE FUND

The Saroyan Leadership Challenge Fund went over $158,000 in pledges in February 2008, with over $127,000 securely in the bank!

Started in August 2005 with a $10,000 gift from Ralph Saroyan (Alpha Psi), our 25th Grand President and first chairman of the Pharmacy Leadership & Education Institute (PLEI), the Fund endows our leader-development efforts in perpetuity.  The Fund is managed by PLEI, the IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) foundation Phi Delta Chi started in 1996 to support the Fraternity’s leadership goals.

The amazing thing is that this money was contributed by just 114 Brothers!

Just imagine if all the Brothers touched by Phi Delta Chi in the last 40 years contributed likewise…

Many have told us how painless it feels to contribute $50 or $100 per month via credit card or electronic bank check.  And with corporate matching, the Fund’s principal grows even faster.

“I am so proud of our Brothers:  for their talents, their generosity, and their dedication,” Ralph told the Fraternity.  Andrew Stout (Alpha Nu) and Craig Collins (Alpha Psi) made $10,000 contributions.  John Grabenstein (Beta Gamma) has donated almost $4,000 toward his $10,000 pledge (5 years @ $2,000). Brooke and Sean Greene pledged $10,000. Look at the contributions from these Brothers: Greg Sciarra (Alpha Theta)—$8,000, Ron Ward (Alpha Upsilon)—$5,000, Mark Ammann (Alpha)—$ 5,000.  See the roster of contributors (in PDF format) for full recognition of our generous benefactors.

Each of the benefactors shows how deep runs the Brothers’ love for the Fraternity.  Our donors know how vitally important it is to help the next generation of Brothers become leaders themselves.  PLEI will use the endowment to offer travel grants to Brothers attending Leader-Development Seminars, Officer-Training Courses at Grand Councils, and similar events and projects.

“Our goal is an ambitious $500,000,” said Mary Euler (Beta Epsilon), PLEI’s current chairman of the board.  “But I have every confidence in the world that we’ll make that challenge. Just look at the graph of progress."

Will you join us in supporting this project?  Please make your check payable to the Pharmacy Leadership & Education Institute (PLEI).  Or we can charge your credit card in installments (e.g., $250 quarterly, $100 monthly or every other month for 10 payments). If your employer matches your charitable gifts, we can reach our goal even faster.  Click HERE for a form to get started (in .doc format).

The first 100 Brothers to reach the $1,000 level will receive a specially minted gold-finished coin as Leadership Centurions.  The second 100 hundred will also receive a special memento.

Brother, we thank you for keeping alive Phi Delta Chi’s commitment to Leaders in Pharmacy!

Our Fraternal love and regards,

Ralph L. Saroyan (Aψ #128)
Past Grand President, 1981-1989

John D. Grabenstein, RPh, PhD (BΓ #235)
Past Grand President, 1995-1999
