Regional Officer Descriptions
Directors for Collegiate Affairs (RDCA) serve as a conduit between collegiate chapters, chapter advisors, and the Fraternity. RDCAs work closely with their chapters to ensure and assist them in operating by Phi Delta Chi’s nine Chapter Standards. Alumni Affairs Directors (RDAA) serve to introduce the collegiate Brothers to alumni topics, thereby preparing them for the transition to alumni status. The RDAA also supports alumni brother needs and advocates the development, implementation, and review of programming geared towards them. Policy changes have been adopted and further clarify the responsibilities of the RDAA. The RDCA and RDAA collaborate with the Regional Correspondent (RC) to manage the activities of the region they represent. Some activities include serving as either secretary or parliamentarian at the Regional Conference, participating on Chapter Excellence and Quality Program Visit Teams, and partaking in the Fraternity’s Strategic Planning Retreat at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Attendance at these various meetings and visits will require that the Regional Directors be able to travel throughout their region and country on a few occasions throughout the year. Qualifications to serve as a Regional Director include membership as a Graduate or Alumnus Brother in good standing with the Fraternity and a one-year commitment to the duties of the office.
Unlike the Regional Directors, the Regional Correspondent is an elected position that must remain enrolled as full-time student pharmacists during his/her entire term of office. The role of the Regional Correspondent is a liaison between Chapters, the National Office, and Grand Officers. Because Phi Delta Chi Chapters span the country, it is necessary to have an officer who can act as the link for information between the National Office and the Chapters. At the same time, the RC must serve as a motivator and repository for information that can be easily accessed by Chapters. The RC also works to increase participation in regional and national Phi Delta Chi conventions and to encourage chapters to attain 100% in Achievement Award Program. Because the RC is at the focal point of activity and information, it is key that they be able to communicate progress, problems, and needs to other Regional Officers.
The Grand Vice Presidents for Student, Collegiate, and Alumni Affairs advise and support the Regional Officers by enabling them to effectively execute any strategic plan the Regional Team has to assist collegiate chapters in meeting their needs. Regional Officers are obligated to communicate with their respective Grand Officer on at least a monthly basis. The Regional Team should also communicate frequently to have a shared understanding of what is going on with each of their chapters. Regional Officers are expected to attend Regional Conferences and Grand Councils and their attendance at Leader-Development Seminars is encouraged.
Every interested Brother should have the chance to apply for a regional office position. The Executive Director is always accepting of your application.
The one-year appointments for RDCA & RDAA will be made by the Executive Council during the Leader-Development Seminar on even years and at Grand Council on odd numbered years. Correspondents are elected at either the 2nd Regional Caucus during of the Grand Council or the Final Business Session of the Regional Conference Meeting.
